Doctoral Administration of ETH Zürich

The Doctoral Administration of ETH ensures the smooth running of the administrative side of your doctoral studies: from the application and registration to printing the doctoral degree certificate and organising the award ceremony. We are the point of contact for prospective doctoral candidates, professors, ETH Zurich departments and institutes for all questions relating to doctoral studies.

The PhD is the most important scientific degree conferred by ETH Zurich. The different institutes of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering offer a wide range of possibilities for research and carrying out a dissertation. Most doctoral students are employed as teaching assistants or scientific collaborators, simultaneously working on their individual research in close contact with a professor supervising their theses.

Holders of a diploma or a Master degree from ETH or from a recognized university with comparable degrees are admitted without any further requirements. In all other cases candidates will have to pass qualifying examinations. Enrollment for doctoral studies is possible at any time.
