Educational Workshop for Research Groups

This service is offered at the beginning of the semester break to assist faculty and teaching assistants with educational and organizational reflections and questions that may arise during the semester at D-BAUG.

Teaching and examination are two critical areas of ETH that require constant attention and improvement. A workshop service for research group from D-BAUG has been designed to address these areas and support them in doing so.

The teaching portion of the workshop will cover topics such as

  • how the quality of lectures and exercises can be increased, e.g., how to increase student engagement in face-to-face instruction.
  • how workload and efficiency can be reduced, e.g., how to prepare and assess a lecture/lab, together as a team and with less effort than today.

The exams portion will address

  • how exam content can meet students' expectations (aligned with the learning objectives).
  • the importance of clear and reliable communication with students on exam structure and conditions.
  • potential irregular situations during an exam.

The workshop will begin by collecting individual questions on teaching and exam "pain points" from group members, which will then be organized by topic and discussed in a 1-2 hour meeting.

These types of meetings have been facilitated in previous semesters and are believed to be very beneficial for all those involved. If you and your group are interested in participating in the workshop, please have someone from the group schedule a convenient time. Send an email to .
