An English summary of the research activities is also to be found in the official ETH Research Report.

Research activities are funded by the ETH, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), the Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI) and by industry.

Due to their interdependence, these five strategic research areas represent a thematic unity and are an indispensable prerequisite for the imlementation of the three degree programs of our Department. To underline this unity and to make use of the inherent synergy potential, we are presently defining research focuses. Within these focused areas interdisciplinary research efforts will be initiated, which involve several professors from our Department. Over the coming years we also intend to increase the number of PhD students.

Consult the ETH Web page: Research and Technology Transfer for an overview of research activities in other departments.
