About the scientific staff
The associates of the university are listed in ETH law:
Art. 13 Terminology:
1 University associates are:
a. Members of teaching staff (full and associate professors, assistant professors, senior lecturers, Maîtres d'Enseignement et de recherche and teaching staff);
b. assistants, scientific staff and doctoral students;
d. administrative and technical staff.
The group referred to in point b are generally referred to as "non-professorial academic staff". Therefore, the following people belong in this category:
- Research assistants
- Doctoral students
- Scientific collaborator/Senior assistant
- Scientific staff
- Part-time scientific staff
To represent the interests of non-professorial academic staff within the Department and the school, members of academic staff are represented in the following bodies.

Association of Scientific Staff at D-BAUG (ASB)
The Association of scientific staff at D-BAUG (ASB) was founded on initiative of AVETH and represents the interests of the scientific staff at D-BAUG.

On the ETH-level, the interests of the scientific staff are represented by AVETH (Academic Association of Scientific Staff at ETH Zurich).
