Doctoral Studies (12 credits)
In the course of your doctoral studies, you have the right and the obligation to develop your knowledge in the field of your doctoral thesis. General information about this can be found on the student portal.
Regarding additional D-BAUG-specific requirements, please consult our Detailed Provisions. In this context, your date of immatriculation as a doctoral student is decisive:
prior to 1 July 2016: previous Detailed Provisions D-BAUG (PDF, 40 KB) on Doctoral Studies, version 01.09.2009.
after 1 July 2016: new Detailed Provisions D-BAUG (PDF, 33 KB) on Doctoral Studies, version 01.07.2016.
Please observe the following:
- discuss your individual study programme with your doctoral thesis supervisor
- note that at least one-third of your credits must be gained outside your discipline.
- all lectures taken from the ETH Zurich course catalogue are shown in myStudies (transcript of records, doctoral studies). All other external courses must be summarised on the course attendance sheet (PDF, 23 KB) and signed by your supervisor.
To provide final proof of all 12 credit points required, please contact the Doctoral Administration at D-BAUG, preferably in person.
This should happen about 4-5 months before your desired examination date, as the credits are certified on the registration form for the doctoral examination. On the same occasion, all organisational matters surrounding your examination are dealt with.
You are, however, at liberty to submit your credit certificates to the D-BAUG Doctoral Administration Office on an on-going basis, thereby clarifying any questions you might have.
