Natural and economic resources
Construction and infrastructure systems have made the greatest human impact on natural resources such as water, air, energy, substances and materials, as well as open spaces and landscapes. D-BAUG covers the key resource areas of the natural and built environment, and sees itself as a developer, designer, operator and protector of habitats.
The research aims to contribute to the maintenance and further development of natural resources and systems. Sustainable use of natural resources and systems is not only a question of technology, ecology and waste management, but is also concerned with economic, social, political, cultural and ethical aspects. It is increasingly important to optimise all processes and systems, not just individual components.
Our research findings in the fields of natural and innovative building materials, the efficient use of construction and infrastructure systems using the latest measurement and evaluation procedures (sensors, control and instrumentation technology) help to achieve this objective. Related areas such as innovative production techniques, smart energy use and ICT will take on increasing relevance.
