Military service may be postponed to a later time in the event of valid reasons. The principles according to which requests for postponement of military service are granted by D-BAUG are set out in the document "D-BAUG principles regarding postponement of military service".

Anyone who wants to postpone military service should fill in and sign the two forms for "Application to postpone military service and "Personal curriculum" and present both to the information desk.

In the event of the reasons for the postponement of military service not being compelling grounds for postponement according to the principles, it is highly recommended that the reasons should be described in greater detail in a separate letter.

The application must be submitted to the offering institution at least 14 weeks before the commencement of military service. The necessary documents as well as the D-BAUG principles are published under documents.

An internship is not obligatory for the Master’s degree programme in RE&IS. Nevertheless, students are recommended to familiarise themselves with the tasks and problems in a practical situation. Internships offer an opportunity to apply learned knowledge and to acquire important skills. The resulting network of contacts can be helpful after graduation in finding a job. No credits can be counted towards studies.
